The Burns Valkenburg apple

Here at Burns Valkenburg we have a tradition of excellence when it comes to our clients. But we also have another tradition, one that rewards our staff for their individual excellence.

It started in January of 2004. As we were taking down the Christmas decorations a shiny red apple fell off the tree, rolling across the lobby, and coming to rest outside David Craipley's office. David took the apple, placed it on his desk and after some thought decided that at the next team meeting he would give it to one of the team members in recognition of outstanding client service. Since then, each week, the apple has been passed from one team member to another to acknowledge something special that person has done.

It's a great tradition that lets staff know that the extra things they do are recognized and appreciated by their peers. Adding to the honour of receiving the apple is an annual draw for a $5,000 travel voucher, awarded by the partner group to one of that years apple recipients.
